EPA Rejects 54 Gap Year Applications

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced it has rejected 54 of the 68 "gap year" small refinery exemption (SRE) applications it received this year.

6.7 Million Gallons Of E15 Sold In MN In July

E15 sales in Minnesota in July grew 7.5 percent to 6.7 million gallons from 6.25 million gallons in June, according to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

E15 sales in Minnesota in June totaled 6.25 million gallons, 14.88 percent higher than the 5.44 million gallons recorded in May.

The Congressional Biofuel Caucus, led by Minnesota's Rep. Collin Peterson, is asking Senate and House leaders to include aid for the ethanol industry in the next coronavirus relief package.

5.42 Million Gallons of E15 Sold in May

After two straight months of declining sales, E15 sales in Minnesota in May turned a corner and climbed up to 5.42 million gallons as the state's stay-at-home order expired. 

E15 sales in Minnesota totaled 3.82 million gallons in April - the lowest monthly volume since September 2018 - due to the state's stay-at-home order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Sen. Chuck Grassley and Sen. Amy Klobuchar have introduced legislation to reimburse ethanol producers for feedstock purchases made in the first quarter of this year to provide the industry with some much-needed relief.

The latest coronavirus relief package introduced in the US House of Representatives includes the Renewable Fuel Reimbursement Program which provides financial relief for the ethanol industry.
