Blogging For Biofuels

April 1 is April Fools' Day and both RFA and the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) honored the day by issuing this hilarious April Fools' letter to members of Congress.

Rand Paul Wants E15 Sold All Year Long

After a barrage of anti-ethanol bills in Congress comes a proposed bill that would actually expand access to E15, courtesy of an unlikely source - Sen. Rand Paul.

A proposal by a group of U.S. House Representatives to stop the U.S. Department of Agriculture funding for blender pumps and promoting ethanol exports has been labeled as a measure to "strenghten the death grip on the U.S. ethanol industry" by ethanol and ag groups.

Making E15 the new regular in eight states would reduce CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions annually by a staggering 3.76 million metric tonnes, according to analyses by the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Following our announcement on the potential CO2 savings that could be achieved in Minnesota if all gasoline sold in the state was E15, Fuels America has followed up with similar analyses for Iowa and Wisconsin.

Over the past few weeks, the ethanol industry has been the subject of a barrage of attacks from various quarters.

E15 sales in Minnesota totaled a record 167,039 gallons in January this year as more stations began offering E15.

RFS reform is the sort of thing you expect to hear from Big Oil and its cohorts (EWG, Action Aid and other frivolous organizations) but not from a group that supposedly represents the advanced biofuels industry.
