According to newly released data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, E15 sales in September was 82,258 gallons higher than August. The EPA-imposed RVP ban on E15 begins June 1 and ends Sept 15. As such, the bulk of E15 sales in September would have occured in the second half of the month.
Compared to the same month a year ago, September 2016's E15 sales was 28 percent higher (248,330 gallons in September 2015).
On a nine-month basis, E15 sales in Minnesota totaled 3.54 million gallons, 14.5 percent higher than the 3.09 million gallons recorded for the whole of 2015.
September was also a good month for other blends of ethanol. Using data from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, E85 sales in September was at 1.3 million gallons, up 18 percent from the previous month and also the highest volume recorded since August 2015.
E30 sales also reached a record high for the year with 46,690 gallons sold in September, the highest volume sold since October 2015.
