Over the past few weeks, the ethanol industry has been the subject of a barrage of attacks from various quarters.

Following our announcement on the potential CO2 savings that could be achieved in Minnesota if all gasoline sold in the state was E15, Fuels America has followed up with similar analyses for Iowa and Wisconsin.

Making E15 the new regular in eight states would reduce CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions annually by a staggering 3.76 million metric tonnes, according to analyses by the University of Illinois at Chicago.

A proposal by a group of U.S. House Representatives to stop the U.S. Department of Agriculture funding for blender pumps and promoting ethanol exports has been labeled as a measure to "strenghten the death grip on the U.S. ethanol industry" by ethanol and ag groups.

And like its aforementioned editorial, the analysis by The Motley Fool played loose with the facts and contained erroneous information.

Corn ethanol is and will play an integral role in the development of the cellulosic ethanol industry, said centrist think tank, Third Way, in a report last week.
