According to figures released by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, E15 sales in March clocked in at 172,973 gallons. In February it was at 153,115 gallons. E15 sales in January, however, was the highest of the year so far at 183,934 gallons.
The surge in E15 volume follows the increase in the number of stations offering the fuel. At present there are 18 stations in the state that offer E15 with more slated to come onboard soon.
The increase in volume also indicates the growing demand in Minnesota for a high-octane and environmentally-friendly fuel like E15.
Meanwhile, the Department of Commerce, using data from the Department of Revenue, reported that E85 sales in the first quarter totaled 2.39 million gallons.
