New Ad Argues For More Ethanol To Mitigate High Gas Prices

A new advertisement from Americans United For Change ties high pump prices to the current turmoil in Iraq and argues for ethanol production levels under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to be maintained.

In particular, the ad urges viewers to notify the EPA to maintain the 2014 renewable volume obligations for ethanol as stipulated in the RFS. The EPA, as widely reported, has proposed to reduce ethanol consumption this year. Watch the video below.

The videos arguement follows along the lines of an arguement we've made in recent blog postings regarding current gas prices. Crude oil futures in recent weeks has trended upwards as a result of the current sectarian violence besieging Iraq. Thankfully, ethanol has brought us some relief.

Regular E10, based on today's RBOB gasoline prices and ethanol futures, is 15 cents cheaper per gallon than it would be without any ethanol blended.
