The department reports Unleaded 88 sales in August totaled 12.4 million gallons, 3.5 percent higher than the 11.98 million gallons recorded in August 2023. 

On a month-to-month comparison basis, August’s 12.4 million gallons was slightly lower than the 12.53 million gallons sold in July. 

However, it should be noted that only 368 stations reported their Unleaded 88 sales in August compared to 387 stations in July. 

In fact, the average volume sold per station in August was 33,720 gallons compared to 32,386 gallons in July. 

On a cumulative basis, 94.53 million gallons was sold in Minnesota from Jan 1 to Aug 31 this year.

This represented a 15 percent increase from the 82.13 million gallons sold over the same period in 2023. 

Should the current sales trend continue, Unleaded 88 sales this year in Minnesota are on track to exceed the record 127.55 million gallons sold last year.
