U of M Offers Two Sustainable Bioeconomy Undergraduate Majors

The University of Minnesota's Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering department offers two undergraduate majors: Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering and Sustainable Systems Management.

Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering

This major, which is similar to chemical engineering and environmental engineering, focuses on using bio-based, renewable materials to improve existing products (like fuel) and natural ecosystems in a sustainable way.

This major integrates goals of economic growth and development in global markets through broad course offerings and real-world experiences. This interdisciplinary major advances solutions for processes and products, commercial and industrial businesses, buildings and energy systems that promote sustainability.
