According to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, E15 sales in Minnesota in October was 5.37 million gallons, 46 percent higher than the volume recorded in September (3.67 million gallons). The higher volume in October was expected after the EPA's summertime restrictions on E15 ended on Sept 15.
The volume in October was also 68 percent higher than the total sold in October 2017 (3.19 million gallons).
At 5.37 million gallons, the total volume of E15 in Minnesota in 2018 as of October was 48.4 million gallons, more than double the volume recorded for the whole of 2017 (19.05 million gallons).
As for other blends of ethanol, the Department of Commerce' data shows E85 sales in October totaled 1.4 million gallons, slightly lower than the volume in September (1.58 million gallons). Still, the volume in October brought the total volume of E85 sold in Minnesota this year (as of October) to 13.67 million gallons and on course to besting last year's volume of 14.82 million gallons.
