Over the last month, we reached out to candidates running for office, both federal and state, this year to findout their stance on biofuels. Some candidates responded to specific policy questions while others provided us with their own opinions on biofuels. From today until election day, we will provide you with the responses we received. Kicking this series off are responses from Rep. Bud Nornes and his challenger, C.J. Holl, who are running to represent District 08A.
Candidates & Biofuels
Rep. Bud Nornes
- He would choose E10 over non-oxygenated fuel.
- He does not currently use E15 as it isn't available where he currently lives.
- He would oppose bills to scrap the Renewable Fuel Standard.
- He would oppose bills to scrap Minnesota's Petroleum Displacement Law.
- He would support bills to fix the RVP problem so that E15 can be sold in the summer months. This includes supporting actions that call on the EPA to bring RVP parity to E15 and to require gasoline blend stocks with a lower RVP be used so that a waiver for both E10 and E15 is eliminated.
- He would support bills to fund fueling infrastructure to expand the availability of E85.
- He would support bills to fund retrofits to fuel dispensers to increase the availability of E15 to E25.
- He would support bills to accelerate the permitting process for the installation of equipment to improve ethanol production and reduce emissions.
