E85 Usage Continued To Grow In May

E85 Usage in Minnesota continued to grow in May, according to the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Using data from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, the Department of Commerce said in a recently published report that E85 sales in May totaled 1.06 million gallons compared to 1.05 million gallons in April.

On a year-to-year comparison, E85 sales in May 2014 totaled 1.03 million gallons.

At 1.06 million gallons, E85 sales in the first five months of the year was 4.52 million gallons.

The average price of E85 in May was $1.93 per gallon, representing a 61 cent discount to the average price of 87-octane unleaded gasoline.

Minnesota’s E15 sales totaled 179,760 gallons in May, which was slightly lower than the 183,358 gallons recorded in April (the Department of Commerce had originally stated E15 sales in April totaled 182,687 in its report for April).

On a five-month cumulative basis, E15 sales this year totaled 873,139 gallons, more than three times the amount sold for the whole of 2014.
