Thanks to the RFS, our dependence on foreign oil has been reduced significantly and has been replaced by a homegrown renewable fuel. It has also reduced the amount of carbon-intensive petroleum used in our transportation system.
But there’s more that can be done. We know that the 10 percent “blend wall” is a fictitious concept devised by the oil industry to prevent the ethanol industry from claiming a larger share of the market despite the fact that eight out of 10 cars on the road can use E15.
The EPA has bought the oil industry’s claims and has been obsessed with the blend wall. It’s time to tear down that wall.
There was plenty of support for the RFS at the EPA’s hearing in Kansas City last week. But for those of you who couldn’t make it to Kansas City, you still have a chance to have your voice heard. Click on this link to send your message. It will take less than a minute of your time.
