More MINIs Can Now Use E25

Last week, we discovered that MINI has approved E25 for its hardtop models since 2014 and now it has extended that approval to two other models in its lineup.

As we pointed out last week, the 2016 MINI Clubman features the same 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged engines available in the MINI Hardtop and E25 is approved for these engines. But since the manual for the 2016 MINI Clubman wasn't availale online, we decided to head over to the nearest MINI dealership and check it out for ourselves.

And as it turns out, the 2016 MINI Clubman's manual specifically states that the car can use up to E25!

The manual clearly states that E25 can be used in the 2016 MINI Clubman.

The 2016 MINI Clubman on display was the Cooper S version which features the 2.0L turbocharged engine that also sits in the MINI Hardtop Cooper S.

As the dealership noted, the 2016 MINI Clubman hasn't been officially launched and we believe the manuals online will be updated once it is officially launched.

And speaking of launches, MINI announced late last week that the new 2016 MINI Convertible will also feature the same 1.5L and 2.0L engines found in the MINI Hardtop and MINI Clubman.

Again, just like the MINI Clubman, the manual for the 2016 MINI Convertible hasn't been updated online but we are confident its engines will be compatible with E25.

To recap, the 1.5L and 2.0L in the MINI Hardtop and Clubman (as well as the 2016 BMW X1) are new engines from BMW and we believe these engines will be the standard engines throughout MINI's model line-up going forward.

Will E25 be approved for the 2016 MINI Convertible? We think so.
