MN Produced 145 Trillion Btu of Biofuels In 2012

Minnesota's biofuel production was the equivalent of 145.3 trillion Btu in 2012, a new map from the Department of Energy shows.

The map, which details energy production throughout the country that year, shows biofuels to be the third largest contributor to energy production in Minnesota following nuclear and other renewable energy.

At 145.3 trillion Btu, biofuels represented 34.6 percent of the Minnesota's total energy output.

In comparison to the rest of the country, only Iowa and Nebraska showed higher figures than Minnesota in terms of energy produced from biofuels. Click here to see the map.
